The Mayan ball game

The path of the patolli has thirteen spaces in each direction, and the last of each series is destined for the Mayan ball game.

When a player arrives to or passes these spaces, they challenge the rest of the participants to a symbolic Mayan ball game, which will define who places the game’s attribute on the codex. To know which of the four attributes to play in each direction, it suffices to compare the painted lattice on the space with those that appear in the margin of the attributes.

The Mayan ball game is played by rolling the dice in the sphere made of pine needles, which contains four pieces of jade shaped like grains of maize, marked with a single dot on one side.
